Street art 

Le lundi 20 mars, un membre de la galerie itinérance nous a présenté des œuvres de S.A., des Street Artists célèbres comme Banksy ou Kobra et leur maniére de graffer leurs œuvres sur des murs. Il nous a expliqué que cela arrivait que des propriétaires de maisons, d’appartements ou autres batiments permettent aux Street Artists de peindre dessus mais quelques semaines après, juste avant que leur travail commence, les propriétaires disaient qu’ils n’en voulaient plus et cela causait des malentendus entre l’équipe et le propriétaire. 

This piece is an artwork of Banksy who shows two mens in banana suits. Maybe the Street Artist banksy would like to show the war inthe world and the banana suits would make this work more joyful. Originally consisted of the two men pointing bananas, rather than the firearms used in the film. 

At the bottom, I can see a black color and maybe a fire extinguisher at the left of the piece, I don’t know if the fire extinguisher is painted or if it is a real object. I can see also the number 7 on the fire extinguisher. 

This work of art was made by Bom.k from the group of street-artist « Da Mental Vaporz”. It’s a mural made on one the walls of “Galerie Itinerrance” () Avenue de France.

We can see a protective gear for baseball which seems screwed on a big skull, several teeth are missing, and the skull is a bit chipped. The middle top of the head is lighting while the sides are darker. The artwork is really realistic and beautiful, that’s principally the reasons why we chose this artwork.

First, let’s talk about the protective gear. In the field of baseball, it’s used to protect the players. But there, we are not sure if this is a player’s head, so we can interpret it just like a simple defense system.

Plus, like we said before, this gear is screwed on the skull, which is like connecting the defense and the brain, and let we think that the gear is created by the brain.

Finally, if we look at the skull in details, we understand that it’s not a teenager’s, and looks like an old people’s skull. So, it can mean that the sort of protective gear that our brain builds will follow us until our death. In conclusion, we think that it can be a sort of metaphor to show us the defense we create by ourselves from our birth, and which follow us our whole life.

Jade’s: I’m completely fond of this graffiti, because like we said before, I find it beautiful and I admire the artist’s work, the coloring is really amazing! I can’t tell how Bom.k did it, if he used stencils plus spray paints or something else, anyway this is just awesome. 

Hélène’s: I don’t specially like this artwork because I think it’s too ordinary, colorless and quite empty. I prefer painting which have bright colors, and which makes us happy. But I still chose this

graffiti because the hidden meaning is more or less interesting.

Jade and Hélène

It’s a tag painted by Banksy in 2015 on a bridge of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais , it’s in the north of the France. The technique which is used is the spray can. The painting represent  Steve Jobs with a ancient modele of Apple computer in his right hand and there is a bundle in his left hand. The message which is conveyed is to illustrate the crisis of migrants by reminding people that Steve Jobs was the son of a Syrian migrant.  

It’s well made but the message is a little bit sad because the theme of migrant isn’t very happy and it didn’t inspired me.

Dans le 13^e arrondissement, il y a beaucoup d’œuvres de street art. Des galeries d’art payent des artistes pour venir et décorer les murs d’immeubles.

  Le 20 Mars, un gérant de la galerie d’art Itinérances est venu dans notre classe pour nous présenter son travail et nous expliquer comment ils géraient les mises en place des œuvres, le contact avec les artistes etc...

Un autre fait par Inti, un artiste chilien

  En effet, ils proposent aux artistes de venir exposer leurs œuvres dans la galerie et leur permettre de peindre des fresques géantes sur les murs du 13^e arrondissement. Mais ils ne travaillent pas gratuitement, la galerie paye environ 2000€ pour chaque œuvre réalisée dans la rue, mais aussi prend en charge les frais de voyage, l’hôtel et tout le matériel nécéssaire. Mais tout cela coûte cher, et pour les aider, de nombreuses entreprises françaises (Leroy Merlin, RATP, Acorus…) s’associent et aident financièrement (aussi en matériel, comme la peinture à Leroy Merlin) la galerie.

  De nombreux artistes sont déjà venus du monde entier, (polonais, américains, japonais, français, chiliens, espagnols…) dont le célèbre OBEY, qui est venu peindre 3 fresques depuis 2008, dont la dernière a mis 15 jours à être réalisée avec 5 associés (=assistants) dans le 13^e arrondissement tout en exposant ses œuvres dans la galerie.

Nemo & Dorian 

It’s a tag. It was painted by Banksy in 2006, in Bristol on Park Street.
The technique which is used is stencil and paint. The title is “Naked man hanging from a widow”.

On this work of art I can see a suited man, a woman with underwear and a naked man hanging from a widow sill.
The painting represents a woman who’s cheating on her husband with someone else ( the naked man). The suited man is looking on the right and the naked man is on the left, the woman is trying to calm down her husband who’s trying to find the lover.
The work of art is dull because there is not a lot of color.

The message which is conveyed is not to cheat on your partner or you’ll be like the naked man.
Maybe the artist wants to criticize people who have cheated on their partner and also he’s trying to deter someone from cheating on their partner.

This work of art is funny and well made because it can happen in real life.
